HelpForTrauma.com – Terms Summary & Intellectual Property Addendum

 

 

Plain English Summary of Terms of Service

This summary is provided for convenience only and does not replace the full Terms of Service. By enrolling in any training with ITR Training Institute, LLC, you agree to the full legal Terms.

  • ITR Training Institute provides education and professional training. We do not provide therapy, medical treatment, legal advice, or clinical supervision unless separately contracted.
  • You are responsible for knowing your professional scope of practice and following the laws in your state, province, or country.
  • We do not control how you use the knowledge you learn. You are fully responsible for how you apply it.
  • Taking ATC 102/103 or any ITR course does NOT give you permission to teach, train, certify, or supervise others in ITR.
  • Only ITR Training Institute can authorize or approve trainers.
  • All training materials, videos, manuals, protocols, slides, worksheets, and digital tools are protected intellectual property.
  • Recording, copying, sharing, uploading, or teaching our material without written permission is strictly prohibited.
  • If you misuse the material or violate these terms, you may lose access, lose certification, and face legal action.
  • Training exercises are for educational purposes only and are not therapy.
  • You are responsible for seeking appropriate support if trauma material becomes activating for you.

Intellectual Property Enforcement Addendum

This Addendum is incorporated into the Terms of Service for HelpForTrauma.com and applies to all participants in any ITR Training Institute program, including ATC 102 and ATC 103.

1. Ownership

All Instinctual Trauma Response® (ITR) materials are the exclusive property of ITR Training Institute, LLC. This includes but is not limited to trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, protocols, manuals, worksheets, graphics, training videos, research materials, web applications, and all derivative works.

2. No Teaching or Redistribution Rights

Completion of any ITR training does not grant rights to teach, train, certify, supervise, record, duplicate, publish, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from ITR materials. Only individuals expressly authorized in writing by ITR Training Institute may provide ITR training.

3. Prohibited Conduct

  • Recording live or virtual sessions.
  • Sharing login credentials.
  • Uploading materials to shared drives or AI platforms.
  • Creating similar trainings based on ITR content.
  • Presenting ITR material as part of another course without written authorization.

4. Monitoring & Enforcement

ITR Training Institute reserves the right to monitor misuse, investigate suspected violations, revoke access or certification, and pursue civil remedies including injunctions, damages, attorney’s fees, and anyx other remedies available under applicable law.

5. Liquidated Damages

Unauthorized teaching or distribution of ITR intellectual property may result in liquidated damages to be determined by ITR Training Institute based on the scope of infringement, in addition to any other legal remedies available.

6. Survival

Intellectual property protections survive completion of training, termination of access, or expiration of certification.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing HelpForTrauma.com (“Website”), enrolling in any training, including but not limited to Accelerated Traumatology Course (ATC) 101, 102, 103, certification programs, consultations, digital products, live trainings, or related services (collectively, “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree, you may not access or participate in any ITR Training Institute Services.

ATC 102/103 participants must sign the separate Participant Agreement prior to course access.

2. Nature of the Services

HelpForTrauma.com provides:

  • Professional education and training in the Instinctual Trauma Response® (ITR) model
  • Continuing education content
  • Educational resources
  • Certification programs
  • Consultation services
  • Research-related training
  • Digital learning tools

All Services are educational in nature.

ITR Training Institute does not provide psychotherapy, medical treatment, diagnosis, legal advice, or clinical supervision unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement.

3. Scope of Practice Responsibility

Each participant is solely responsible for:

  • Knowing and complying with the laws and regulations of their state, province, or country.
  • Understanding and adhering to their professional scope of practice.
  • Maintaining all required licenses, registrations, certifications, or credentials.
  • Determining whether participation in ITR training is appropriate for their professional role.

ITR Training Institute does not:

  • Provide legal counsel.
  • Monitor participant practice.
  • Supervise clinical work.
  • Control how participants apply knowledge gained from training.

Participants assume full responsibility for how they use any information, techniques, or materials learned.

4. No Authorization to Teach or Train Others

The Instinctual Trauma Response® model, protocol, materials, videos, manuals, and associated intellectual property are proprietary.

Participation in any course, including ATC 102/103:

  • Does NOT authorize a participant to teach, train, certify, supervise, or represent themselves as an ITR trainer.
  • Does NOT grant rights to reproduce, adapt, distribute, record, or present ITR content.
  • Does NOT grant rights to create derivative works.

Only ITR Training Institute, LLC has authority to approve, license, or certify individuals to train others in ITR.

Unauthorized teaching, reproduction, or distribution will result in immediate legal action.

5. Intellectual Property

All ITR materials are the exclusive intellectual property of ITR Training Institute, LLC, including but not limited to:

  • Instinctual Trauma Response® name and marks
  • ITR Certified® designations
  • Training videos
  • Course manuals
  • Protocols
  • Web applications
  • Graphics, worksheets, slides, assessments
  • Research instruments
  • Derivative works or improvements

All materials are protected by copyright, trademark, and trade secret law.

Audio or video recording of any training session is strictly prohibited.

No portion of any ITR training may be copied, shared, distributed, uploaded, taught, or used for external training purposes.

ITR Training Institute reserves the right to pursue civil and criminal remedies for infringement.

6. Certification Requirements

Certification requirements are defined by ITR Training Institute and may include:

  • Required education (e.g., master’s degree in a human services or appropriate mental health field for Trauma Specialist designation)
  • Licensure or professional registration
  • Successful completion of course requirements
  • Passing final evaluations
  • Compliance with ethical standards

Certification does not expand a participant’s legal scope of practice.

Professional scope of practice remains determined by the participant’s original licensure or credentials.

7. Educational Purpose Only

Training practice exercises are for educational purposes only and do not constitute therapy.

ITR Training Institute is not in a therapeutic relationship with participants.

Participants:

  • Are responsible for grounding themselves.
  • Should seek personal therapy if needed.
  • Should consult their therapist if currently in therapy.
  • Should consult medical professionals regarding medical limitations.
  • Should not participate if diagnosed with dissociative disorders unless cleared by an appropriate provider.

ITR recommends that professionals working with trauma address their own unresolved trauma before facilitating trauma recovery work.

8. Risk Acknowledgment

Participants understand that:

  • Trauma-related material may be emotionally activating.
  • Processing may continue after training.
  • Dreams or memories may surface.

Participants are solely responsible for obtaining appropriate professional support if needed.

9. Indemnification

Participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ITR Training Institute, LLC, HelpForTrauma.com, its owners, directors, trainers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising from:

  • Participant’s application of ITR knowledge
  • Misuse of training materials
  • Breach of these Terms
  • Negligence or misconduct
  • Failure to follow applicable laws

10. Research Participation

Certain trainings may include research components. Participation in research is governed by separate informed consent documentation where applicable.

Training alone does not qualify participants to conduct ITR research independently without written authorization.

11. Termination

ITR Training Institute reserves the right to:

  • Deny access
  • Remove course access
  • Revoke certification
  • Pursue legal remedies

If a participant violates these Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State in which ITR Training Institute, LLC is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

13. Modifications

ITR Training Institute reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of Services constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.

ATC 102/103 COURSE ACCESS AGREEMENT

Before unlocking ATC 102 or 103, participants must:

  • Sign the Participant Agreement
  • Affirm compliance with scope-of-practice laws
  • Affirm understanding of intellectual property restrictions
  • Agree not to teach ITR without written authorization

Electronic signature constitutes binding agreement.
